Congrats to Cousin Doug

Our cousin Doug's (Carmen's husband) band, SafetySuit, released their first single this week on iTunes. Here is their promo video and here is their myspace page where you can listen to the song. Keep the radio request lines jammed.

...Through the Eyes of a Child

Mom and Dad have been amazed to hear how much of our real life is carrying over to Addy's pretend life that she creates in her playhouse that Grandma got her for Christmas. Here are some things we are learning about our family from watching Addy imitate us in her pretend world.

5. When you get in trouble, you have to go to time out, and you can't get out until you go and say, "I'm Sorry" to Mom or Dad.

4. The happiest part of the day is when Dad comes home from work. When he gets in the door, everyone has to go give him "lovies."

3. Mom takes a lots of naps. (This "depiction" of Mom does not make the real Mom very happy. Dad is convinced Addy does it because Addy always thinks Mom is sleeping in the morning when Dad gets her up. Really she is upstairs primping for the day.)

2. Only Dad is allowed to drive the car. Mom has to sit in the passenger seat.

1. Mom is not allowed in the kitchen. Dad is the only one who can cook with the stove. (There is not a lot to clean in a doll house, so Mom doesn't actually do much in play land.)

But my personal favorite it watching dolls play "chase" around a doll house. In play land, Dad and Addy chase each other right out the second floor windows, onto the roof, and then push each other off the roof when someone gets caught.

I guess I better lock Addy's windows.

Stylin' like Mom

Check out Addy's new Uggs that mom found for like 5 bucks at some consignment shop.

Alphabet Soup

Mom caught Addy working on her letters this week. If you listen closely you can hear Addy singing the alphabet song from about the middle on.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Clay

We went up to see Clay for his party this weekend in Fredricksburg. Here he is working some cake.

Addy's favorite part of birthdays, the cake!

Here is Clay's little brother, Brennan, taking the dumptruck for a ride.

Best friends playing together. Both sets of parents agreed that Addy and Clay play better together than any of their other sets of friends.

D-Day: Disapointment Day

Well after having to wait another day, now we have to wait another 4 weeks to find out baby Ritner's gender. The little one was all curled up in a little ball and the tech said she couldn't see anything. To ease the pain, here are some more videos from Addy's birthday last week.

Addy Has "A" Cake and Eats it "2"

Addy turns 2 on Tuesday, but as our tradition, we celebrated with friends on Super Bowl Sunday. Dad and Mom made a letter A cake to try to keep up the themed cake tradition that Grandma French started when Dad was a kid. (School buses, a huge driver's license, etc.) After weeks of practicing blowing out the candles, Addy got stage fright and Dad had to take them down for her. We will try again with some birthday morning pancakes tomorrow. Thanks for all of the Ritner friends who were able to make it. At one time we had 16 little kids running around the house. It was an extroverted family's dream!

(And a special shout out to Addy's friend Aly Warner who turned 2 as well over the weekend down in Atlanta. We are looking forward to seeing her in a couple weeks when we drive to Florida for vacation.)

Family Birthday Dinner

Mom, Dad and Uncle Brett took Addy out for a family birthday dinner on Friday. Addy played with her new puzzles from Uncle Brett while the adults enjoyed Williamsburg's Restaurant Week prices at Cities Grille. After one regular pose, we all had to join Addy in her favorite pose. On the way there we saw a huge rainbow. It was Addy's first and she was very excited!
